Rea Ben David’s solo exhibition, “A Journey Nearby,” features new photographs from the last two years, taken as part of an ongoing project shot between his home and studio. With admirable precision, Ben David uses the camera as an apparatus that transforms locations that are an inseparable part of his daily life into hermetic formations that lose touch with the local and with the familiar. Ben David creates perspective without going afar, moving in a limited radius. In the hyper realist photographs, his unique viewpoint is apparent, detaching the photographic subjects from time and place. The portrayed sites and people, untouched and unmanipulated by the photographer, arrange themselves in front of his camera, seeming as part of a staged set. The exhibition will be on view until 18/5.
